MP Police Constable Recruitment 2026: Quick Intro

The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) has invited applications for 7,500 Constable (GD) posts under the Home Department of Madhya Pradesh Police. The vacancies include 700 posts in the Special Armed Force which are open only to male candidates, and 6,800 posts in the general cadre which are open to both male and female candidates. Online applications will be accepted from 22 September to 6 October 2026. The written examination is scheduled to begin from 19 November 2026.  

Candidates who followed the previous MP Police Constable recruitment may remember that the selection process can take considerable time. In the 2023 recruitment cycle, the written examination was conducted in August 2023, while the Physical Efficiency Test was completed only in November 2024. The final results and unit allotment were announced in 2025. This timeline shows that the recruitment process may take longer than expected, so candidates should keep this in mind while applying.


Vacancy Details

The 7,500 vacancies are divided into two separate recruitment streams. The Special Armed Force (SAF) has 700 posts and is open only to male candidates, while the General Duty cadre has 6,800 posts and is open to both male and female candidates. The category-wise vacancy details are given below:


Application Fee

The application fee has two separate components. The MPESB examination fee is Rs.500 for unreserved candidates and Rs.250 for SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidates who are domiciled in Madhya Pradesh. In addition, a separate departmental fee of Rs.200 for unreserved candidates and Rs.100 for eligible reserved-category candidates with MP domicile is payable to the Police Department.

In addition to the examination and departmental fees, MP Online charges a portal fee of Rs.60 when the application is submitted through a kiosk operator, or Rs.20 when candidates apply themselves as registered citizens. Candidates can therefore save on the portal charge by completing the form on their own.

The application fee can be paid through debit card, credit card or Net Banking. Once paid, the fee will not be refunded, even if the application is rejected or withdrawn.


Candidates who need to correct their category or other application details can use the correction window from 22 September to 11 October 2026. A Rs.20 correction fee will be charged for each correction, along with a Rs.40 MP Online portal fee.


Age Limit

The minimum age is 18 years, calculated as on 6 October 2026, which is also the last date for submitting the application. The upper age limit varies by category, with the applicable details given below:

Note: Candidates from outside Madhya Pradesh are not eligible for any age relaxation and must meet the maximum age limit of 33 years, regardless of their category.


Educational Qualification

Most candidates must have passed Class 10 or Higher Secondary from a recognised board. However, candidates applying under the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category are eligible with a minimum qualification of Class 8 pass. This relaxation is not available to other reserved categories.

*There is no percentage requirement for the prescribed educational qualification, so candidates who meet the pass criteria can apply. However, the required qualification must be completed by 6 October 2026, the application deadline. A result declared after this date will not be accepted, even if the qualifying examination was conducted earlier.


Selection Process

The first phase is a 100-mark objective examination with 100 questions, conducted by MPESB in Hindi. Candidates get two hours to complete the paper, with one mark for each correct answer and no negative marking for wrong or unanswered questions.
The paper covers General Knowledge and Reasoning (40 marks), Intellectual Ability and Mental Aptitude (30 marks), and Science and Simple Arithmetic (30 marks). The questions are based on the Class 8 level.

The second phase is the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), conducted by the Police Department and carrying 100 marks. It includes an 800-metre run for 40 marks, long jump for 30 marks and shot put for 30 marks. Candidates get one attempt in the 800-metre run and three attempts each in the long jump and shot put.

Clearing the written examination alone is not enough to secure selection. Candidates must score at least 30 marks out of 100 in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) to remain eligible for further consideration.
The final merit is prepared using the normalised T-score method, rather than simply adding the raw marks from both phases. For the written examination, candidates are shortlisted for the PET based on the vertical category-wise cutoff percentile, with candidates up to seven times the number of vacancies being called for the physical test.

Salary, Job Location, and Service Conditions

The post carries a pay scale of Rs.19,500 to Rs.62,000. During the 3-year probation period, selected candidates receive a stipend based on the minimum pay: 70% in the first year, 80% in the second year and 90% in the third year. After completing probation, they receive the full pay scale along with applicable allowances.

Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in Madhya Pradesh, depending on the department's requirements and available units. However, candidates will not be posted in their own home district.
After joining a unit, candidates must complete at least five years of service before becoming eligible to request a transfer to another unit. They may also be posted to other police establishments, including the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and the Lokayukta's special police establishment, as decided by the government.

Note: Candidates with disabilities are not eligible for recruitment to these police posts, as per the applicable state government provisions.

> Your photograph should clearly show both ears and must not be a Polaroid print. Black-and-white, unclear, or improperly cropped photographs may lead to rejection.
> Aadhaar-based biometric verification is required during registration and at the examination centre. If you use an e-Aadhaar printout, it must carry the required UIDAI verification.
> After the correction window closes on 11 October 2026, no further changes will be accepted. The Board will not consider requests for corrections after the deadline.
