MP Police Subedar ASI Ministerial Vacancy 2026: Quick Intro

The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board has announced 655 vacancies in the ministerial wing of the state police. The recruitment includes 135 Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer posts and 520 Assistant Sub Inspector (Ministerial) posts. The online application process will run from 24 September 2026 to 8 October 2026, while the first-stage written examination is scheduled to begin on 3 November 2026. These are ministerial desk-based posts within the police department, with eligibility focused on typing, shorthand, and computer certification rather than a graduation degree.

The Madhya Pradesh Police also depends on ministerial staff to manage its office and administrative work. Police headquarters, range offices, district Superintendent of Police offices, Special Branch units, and CID offices require staff for tasks such as taking dictation, typing Hindi documents, maintaining case files, and handling official paperwork. This work is handled by the Anusachiviya (Ministerial) cadre, and the current recruitment aims to fill 655 vacancies in this cadre.

A key eligibility condition is that every applicant must already have a valid CPCT scorecard with Hindi typing on the date of submitting the application. CPCT is conducted by MAP_IT approximately every two months, and the scorecard remains valid for seven years. Candidates who have not appeared for CPCT or whose scorecard validity has expired will not meet this requirement. Therefore, the CPCT requirement should be checked before starting the application process.

MP ESB is also conducting a separate recruitment for 507 Subedar and Sub Inspector (Executive) posts, for which the application window closes on 23 September 2026 and graduation is mandatory.
The names of the two recruitments are similar, so candidates should check the advertisement carefully before applying. The recruitment covered in this article is for the Ministerial Cadre, where candidates with 10+2 qualification can apply. It is a separate recruitment from the Subedar and Sub Inspector (Executive) cadre.

Vacancy Details

The advertisement covers six post codes, including two under the Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer cadre and four under the Assistant Sub Inspector (Ministerial) cadre. The complete post-wise and category-wise distribution of all 655 vacancies is provided below:

Note: The vacancy for each post code is divided into two parts: 87% under the notional category and 13% under the provisional category. Across all six post codes, this amounts to 570 notional vacancies and 85 provisional vacancies. The 85 provisional posts are subject to the outcome of the pending reservation matter. Therefore, the final number of vacancies to be filled may change depending on the outcome of the case.
*Candidates who are not permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh can apply only for unreserved (UR) open vacancies. They will not be eligible for reservation benefits or any age relaxation applicable to Madhya Pradesh residents.

Application Fee

The application fee is collected under two separate components. Candidates have to pay the MP ESB examination fee, along with a separate departmental examination fee, which is collected on behalf of the police department.

The MP Online portal charges are additional to the examination and departmental fees. Candidates filling the form through an MP Online kiosk will pay โ‚น60, while those applying themselves as a registered citizen user will pay โ‚น20. As a result, the total application cost is approximately โ‚น720 for an unreserved candidate applying from home and โ‚น370 for a reserved-category candidate from Madhya Pradesh.

The application fee can be paid through credit card, debit card, net banking, or in cash at an authorised MP Online kiosk. The concessional fee is available only to SC, ST, OBC, and EWS candidates who are natives of Madhya Pradesh. Candidates belonging to a reserved category but residing in another state will have to pay the unreserved-category fee.

Important Fee & Correction Rules:
> If you change your category from UR to a reserved category during the correction window, the fee difference will not be refunded.
> If you change your category from reserved to UR, you must pay the balance application fee.
> An application submitted without fee payment can still be paid during the correction window, along with the prescribed correction charges.
> The correction fee is โ‚น20 per correction, plus an additional โ‚น40 MP Online portal charge each time.

Age Limit

The candidateโ€™s age will be calculated as on 8 October 2026. The complete category-wise upper age limits are provided below:

Note: Ex-servicemen can deduct their entire period of defence service from their present age, provided the resulting age does not exceed the prescribed upper age limit by more than three years. Retrenched government employees are also eligible for a similar deduction of up to seven years, subject to the same three-year limit. This age relaxation doesn't apply to CRPF, BSF, ITBP, or other central paramilitary and police force personnel. It is also not available to Shiksha Karmi, Panchayat Karmi, contract employees, or employees of local bodies such as Janpad and Nagar Palika.
*If a candidate qualifies for more than one age-relaxation category, only the single relaxation that is most beneficial will be allowed.

Educational Qualification

The complete educational and other eligibility requirements for both cadres are provided below:

Note: Candidates should carefully check the eligibility structure, as CPCT and the computer qualification are two separate requirements. They are not alternatives to each other. A BCA qualification without a valid CPCT scorecard does not make a candidate eligible. Similarly, having CPCT qualification without any of the prescribed computer courses is also not sufficient.

*The required qualification must be completed before submitting the application, and all relevant certificates must be available by 8 October 2026. Candidates who obtain the required qualification after this date will not be eligible for this recruitment cycle, regardless of their performance in the written examination.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of two stages, followed by physical, medical, and character verification.

The first stage is an online written examination in Hindi, consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions for 100 marks. The exam duration is two hours, with 1 mark for each correct answer and no negative marking for wrong or unattempted questions.
The paper is divided into three sections:
1. General Knowledge and Reasoning: 40 marks
2. Intellectual Ability and Mental Aptitude: 30 marks
3. Science and Simple Arithmetic: 30 marks
The examination will begin on 3 November 2026 and will be conducted in two shifts: 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

After Stage 1, candidates will be shortlisted based on the cut-off percentile, with up to seven times the number of advertised vacancies in each vertical category called for the next stage. Candidates who score exactly the cut-off percentile will also be shortlisted, even if this results in more than seven times the advertised vacancies. There is no separate cut-off percentile for horizontal categories. Therefore, candidates applying under categories such as women or ex-servicemen must meet the cut-off of their respective vertical category.

The second stage includes Document Verification and a practical test, which will be conducted in Bhopal by a selection committee constituted by the Director General of Police.
For the Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer post, the practical test consists of Hindi shorthand dictation at 100 words per minute. Candidates will be given two passages of five minutes each. After each dictation, five minutes will be provided to read and correct the draft, followed by 20 minutes to type the transcript. Each dictation carries 10 marks, while each transcription carries 40 marks. For the Assistant Sub Inspector (Ministerial) post, the practical test consists of Hindi typing of two paragraphs of 600 words each. Candidates will get 30 minutes for each paragraph, with each paragraph carrying 50 marks.
Both practical tests are of 100 marks, with a minimum qualifying score of 30%. Only the typed content will be evaluated. Any corrections made using a pen or pencil will not be considered for marks.

The prescribed physical standards are 162 cm minimum height for men and 152 cm for women. Chest measurement is not required, and no relaxation in the height requirement is provided.

The medical examination will be conducted by the District Medical Board and will check the candidateโ€™s height, eyesight, colour vision, knock knees, and flat feet. Vision must be at least 6/9 in one eye and 6/12 in the other without glasses, while colour vision will be tested using Ishihara plates. The medical examination will be video recorded. Candidates declared medically unfit will have the option to appeal before the Divisional Medical Board.

The final merit is not calculated by simply adding the written exam marks to the practical test marks. The written exam percentile is first converted into a T-score, using an assumed mean of 50 and an assumed standard deviation of 10. The practical test marks are then added to this T-score to determine the final score.
Candidates belonging to certain priority categories are eligible for 5% bonus marks on their written examination marks. These categories include NCC โ€˜Cโ€™ certificate holders, ex-servicemen, election and census surplus employees, and dependents of soldiers killed in the Indo-Pak conflict.
Candidates with disabilities are not recruited to police department posts under the Home Department memorandum dated 4 April 1995.

Note: The complete syllabus and details of the Stage 1 online written examination are provided on page 33 of the official notification PDF. Details of the Stage 2 practical tests, including Hindi shorthand dictation for the Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer post and Hindi typing for the Assistant Sub Inspector (Ministerial) post, are available from page 34 onwards.
The official notification PDF is available in the Important Links section below.

Salary, Job Location and Service Conditions

The Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer post carries a pay scale of โ‚น36,200 to โ‚น1,14,800, while the Assistant Sub Inspector (Ministerial) post carries a pay scale of โ‚น19,500 to โ‚น62,000. Other allowances will be payable as sanctioned by the Madhya Pradesh Government from time to time. The Contributory Pension Scheme applies to candidates appointed on or after 1 January 2005.

The pay scale mentioned above is not the amount paid as basic pay during the initial years of service. Under the stateโ€™s stipend rules, a newly appointed employee receives 70% of the minimum pay in the first year, 80% in the second year, and 90% in the third year. For the Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer post, this works out to approximately โ‚น25,340 in the first year and โ‚น32,580 in the third year. For the Assistant Sub Inspector (Ministerial) post, the corresponding figures are about โ‚น13,650 in the first year and โ‚น17,550 in the third year, before the full minimum pay becomes applicable.

Candidates may be posted anywhere within Madhya Pradesh. The applicable rules also permit posting outside the state or in other state departments, including the Economic Offences Wing and Special Police Establishment under the Lokayukta, without requiring the candidateโ€™s consent. Posting in the candidateโ€™s home district is not permitted, except at Police Headquarters. After being allotted to a unit, the candidate must complete at least five years of service in that unit before becoming eligible for transfer.

Appointment is subject to a three-year probation period along with compulsory training. The training requirement cannot be waived. Candidates who fail to report on the prescribed date may lose their place in the selection list.
If a candidate fails the training, one additional attempt will be allowed. Candidates having more than two living children, with one of them born on or after 26 January 2001, are not eligible for appointment. An exception applies if a later delivery results in twins or more children.

5. Candidates can submit online objections to questions within three days after the objection link becomes active. The fee is โ‚น150 per question, with one objection allowed per question. Physical representations will not be considered.
6. There is no provision for re-checking or re-evaluation of the result.
7. ESB does not verify certificates during the application stage, so eligibility remains provisional until document verification by the police department at Stage 2.
8. SC, ST, and OBC candidates belonging to Madhya Pradesh are eligible for reimbursement of actual travel fare. The payment is made after caste certificate verification at Stage 2, so candidates should carry a photocopy of the first page of their bank passbook.

Conclusion

We hope the information provided above helps you understand this recruitment clearly. At apnaupdates.com, we try to provide relevant facts and important recruitment details in a simple way, so readers can make better use of the information without missing key points.
Before starting your preparation, the first thing to check is your CPCT scorecard. Look at the CPCT exam date mentioned on it and make sure it falls within the 7-year validity period. If you have never appeared for CPCT or your scorecard is no longer valid, you will not be eligible for this recruitment, so there is no need to start preparing for this particular advertisement.

If your CPCT certificate is valid, the next step is to decide your post preferences carefully. A single application form covers all six post codes, but any post code you leave unselected will not be considered in the final result, even if your percentile is high enough. Also, check your actual Hindi shorthand speed before choosing the Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer post. The practical test requires a speed of 100 words per minute.

All further updates related to this recruitment, including the admit card, exam city details, answer key objection link, and result, will be published on the official MP ESB website, esb.mp.gov.in.
