Delhi HC SPA & PA Recruitment 2026: Quick Intro

The High Court of Delhi has announced the Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant Examination 2026 for 150 Group B vacancies. The recruitment includes 117 posts of Senior Personal Assistant and 33 posts of Personal Assistant. Graduates with the required English shorthand and typing skills can apply online from 15 September to 5 October 2026, with applications closing at 11 PM on 5 October 2026.

The High Court of Delhi conducts its own recruitment for secretarial staff who assist judges with dictation, orders, letters and judgments. The Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant Examination 2026 offers 150 Group B posts for this purpose. The Court will also prepare a panel of selected candidates from this recruitment. Candidates who qualify the selection process but are not included in the initial appointments may be considered later if additional vacancies arise during the validity of the panel.

In the previous recruitment cycle held in 2023, the High Court of Delhi advertised 127 posts, including 60 Senior Personal Assistant and 67 Personal Assistant vacancies. This time, the vacancy distribution has changed significantly, with 117 posts for Senior Personal Assistant and only 33 posts for Personal Assistant. The Senior Personal Assistant post also requires a higher shorthand speed of 110 words per minute, compared with 100 words per minute for Personal Assistant.

Vacancy Details

The 150 vacancies include 117 posts of Senior Personal Assistant and 33 posts of Personal Assistant. The category-wise vacancy details for both posts are given below:

Note: The Personal Assistant post has no General category vacancy in this recruitment. Unreserved candidates interested in Personal Assistant should check whether they meet the eligibility requirements under EWS or any other applicable reserved category before applying.

Application Fee

The application fee is Rs.1,500 for General, OBC-NCL and EWS candidates, while SC, ST and eligible PwBD candidates have to pay Rs.1,300, plus applicable transaction charges. The fee can be paid through UPI, Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card. Candidates applying for both Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant must pay the applicable fee separately for each post.

The application fee is non-refundable and will not be adjusted against any other examination or recruitment, even if the application is later rejected during scrutiny.

Note: After completing the fee payment, candidates should ensure that the system generates the Confirmation Page. The application should be considered successfully submitted only after this page is generated.

Age Limit

Candidates must be 18 to 32 years old as on 1 January 2026. This means the candidate's date of birth should be between 2 January 1994 and 1 January 2008 and date of birth mentioned in the Matriculation or equivalent certificate will be accepted for determining age. No request to change the date of birth later will be entertained.
The category-wise upper age relaxation is given below:

Note: Candidates already holding a regular post in the High Court of Delhi are not subject to any upper age limit but this age concession does not apply to employees of other government departments, PSUs or Delhi district courts.

Educational Qualification

The post-wise educational qualification requirements are given below:

Note: Candidates must have completed their required qualifications, including graduation, by 5 October 2026, the last date for submitting the application. The qualification must be declared by this date and cannot be completed later before appearing for the examination.

Selection Process

Both posts follow the same four-stage selection process: English Typing Test, English Shorthand Test, Main Descriptive Examination and Interview. The Typing Test is qualifying in nature, while the marks obtained in the Shorthand Test, Main Descriptive Examination and Interview are counted for the final merit list.
The post-wise and stage-wise selection process is given below:

Note: If two or more candidates secure the same total marks, the tie is resolved by comparing their Shorthand Test marks first, followed by Descriptive Examination marks, Interview marks, and finally date of birth, with the older candidate placed higher.
*No candidate, including those belonging to the PwBD category, is exempted from any stage of the selection process. There is also no provision for a scribe or compensatory time at any stage of the examination..

Salary, Job Location, and Service Conditions

The Senior Personal Assistant post is placed at Level 8 of the 7th CPC pay matrix, while Personal Assistant is at Level 7. The Delhi HC doesn't specify the exact monthly salary or allowances. The starting basic pay is Rs.47,600 for Level 8 and Rs.44,900 for Level 7, before adding Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other applicable allowances.

The High Court of Delhi, New Delhi is the recruiting authority for these posts. The work may involve duties in the courtroom, judge's chamber or, in some cases, the judge's residential office. Selected candidates will be posted within the High Court of Delhi's own establishment in Delhi, rather than in a transferable cadre covering multiple states.

There is no probation period or service bond for either post. However, selected candidates may be required to work beyond normal office hours and on holidays whenever the Court's work requires it. Candidates should keep this work schedule in mind while considering the posts.
