DSSSB Delhi District Courts Recruitment 2026: Quick Intro

The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) has released Advertisement No. 04/2026 for recruitment in the Delhi District Courts. The notification includes 641 tentative vacancies across five posts: Senior Personal Assistant, Personal Assistant, Junior Judicial Assistant, Process Server and Peon/Orderly/Dak Peon. The online application process will begin on 6 October 2026 at 12:00 noon and continue until 4 November 2026 at 11:00 PM.

The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) is the Delhi Government's recruitment agency for filling various Group B and Group C posts. For this recruitment, DSSSB will conduct the written examination stages, while the Delhi District Courts will conduct the interview at Tis Hazari Courts and prepare the final merit list.

The recruitment covers posts with different qualification requirements. Senior Personal Assistant requires a graduate degree along with shorthand at 110 words per minute, while Peon/Orderly/Dak Peon requires only Class 10 qualification.

No Delhi domicile condition is stated, so candidates from across India can apply, subject to the eligibility conditions of the respective post.

Vacancy Details

The recruitment offers 641 currently available vacancies across the notified posts. The detailed department-wise, post-wise and category-wise vacancy distribution is given below:

Application Fee

The application fee is β‚Ή100. The fee is payable by male candidates belonging to the UR, OBC and EWS categories. Women candidates of all categories, along with candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-servicemen categories, are exempted from paying the application fee.

The β‚Ή100 application fee must be paid only through SBI e-pay. Payments made through any other mode will be forfeited, and the fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. Candidates should verify their eligibility for the selected post before making the payment.
*An Ex-serviceman who is already employed in a regular civil post under the Central Government or Delhi Government, after having availed Ex-servicemen reservation, will not be eligible for the fee exemption.

There is no separate deadline for fee payment. Candidates should pay the fee at the time of submitting the application and keep the payment receipt safely for future reference.

Age Limit

The age limit for the recruitment is 18 to 27 years as on 01 June 2026. In terms of date of birth, candidates must have been born between 02 June 1999 and 01 June 2008, with both dates included. For age verification, DSSSB will consider only the date of birth recorded in the Class 10 certificate. This date cannot be changed later.

Note: The age limit is calculated as on 01 June 2026. There is no additional age relaxation for women or EWS candidates without a disability.
The OBC age relaxation is applicable only to candidates belonging to the OBC category of Delhi.

Educational Qualification

Eligibility requirements vary from Class 10 qualification to graduation, along with specific typing or shorthand speed requirements for certain posts. Candidates should first check the eligibility criteria for their selected post code.
Except for age, all eligibility conditions are assessed as on 04 November 2026, the closing date for applications. Therefore, the required educational qualification must have been obtained by this date. There is no minimum percentage of marks requirement for the prescribed educational qualifications.

Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant (Post Code 805/26)

For Post Code 805/26, both Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant require a graduation degree.
1. Senior Personal Assistant: Shorthand speed of 110 words per minute and typing speed of 40 words per minute.
2. Personal Assistant: Shorthand speed of 100 words per minute, typing speed of 40 words per minute, along with computer knowledge.

Junior Judicial Assistant (Post Code 806/26)

For Post Code 806/26, candidates must have a graduation degree along with a minimum computer typing speed of 40 words per minute. The required typing speed will be assessed during the skill test.

Process Server (Post Code 807/26)

For Post Code 807/26, candidates must have passed Class 10 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board, or hold a Higher Secondary qualification. They must also possess a valid LMV driving licence along with two years of unblemished driving experience.
The notification does not clearly specify how the required two years of driving experience will be verified or documented. Candidates should therefore keep their driving licence and available proof of driving experience ready for verification.

Peon/Orderly/Dak Peon (Post Code 808/26)

For Post Code 808/26, candidates must have passed Class 10 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board. No prior work experience is required for these posts.

Note: The detailed post-wise educational and other qualification requirements are provided from Page 3 onwards of the official notification PDF, available in the Important Links section below.

Selection Process

Each post code has a separate examination, so candidates should refer only to the exam pattern applicable to their selected post. Each MCQ carries 1 mark, with a 0.25-mark deduction for every wrong answer. The minimum qualifying marks for both the MCQ and descriptive stages are 50% for UR and EWS candidates and 45% for OBC (Delhi), SC, ST, PwBD and ESM candidates.

The detailed selection process, examination pattern and syllabus for Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant under Post Code 805/26 are given below:

The detailed selection process, examination pattern and syllabus for Junior Judicial Assistant under Post Code 806/26 are given below:

The detailed selection process, examination pattern and syllabus for Process Server under Post Code 807/26 are given below:

The detailed selection process, examination pattern and syllabus for Peon/Orderly/Dak Peon under Post Code 808/26 are given below:

Note: For Process Server and Peon/Orderly/Dak Peon, the Principal District & Sessions Judge (HQs) has the authority to modify or dispense with any stage of the selection process, if required. In case of a tie in the final merit, the older candidate will be ranked higher. If the candidates are still tied, the alphabetical order of their names will be used to determine the ranking.

The recruitment notification sets specific shortlisting limits for the different stages of selection. For Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant together, up to 5,825 candidates may be shortlisted for the descriptive paper, based on 25 times the combined 233 vacancies. The skill-test shortlisting limit is up to 270 candidates for Senior PA and 2,060 candidates for PA. For Junior Judicial Assistant, up to 4,350 candidates may be shortlisted for the descriptive paper, while up to 1,740 candidates may be called for the typing test. These are only the maximum limits, and fewer candidates may be shortlisted depending on the selection process.

The shorthand test is an important qualifying stage for Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant candidates. A 550-word passage is dictated in 5 minutes, with a maximum of 22 mistakes, allowing a tolerance of about 4%. Candidates get two attempts, but only the better attempt is considered. The shorthand test is qualifying in nature, so candidates who clear it become eligible to proceed to the interview stage.

The interview carries 10 marks for Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant, while it carries 15 marks for the other posts. There is no minimum qualifying mark prescribed for the interview. Candidates will also provide their post and department preferences during the interview stage, and these preferences will be treated as final. The interview marks will be included in the overall merit, so they can affect the final ranking where candidates have similar scores.

For Process Server and Peon/Orderly/Dak Peon, the MCQ score carries the major share of the final merit, around 87%. Performance in English, Hindi, General Knowledge and Arithmetic therefore plays a key role in shortlisting candidates. Since negative marking applies, careless guessing can reduce the overall score.
The driving test is qualifying in nature for the Process Server post. However, candidates who have a driving licence but limited practical driving experience should prepare seriously for this stage.

Salary, Job Location, and Service Conditions

The notification mentions the old pay band and grade pay, along with the corresponding Pay Level for each post. However, the Board has not specified the starting basic pay under the current pay matrix or the applicable allowances. Therefore, no specific in-hand salary figure is provided here.

The age limit is 18 to 27 years as on 1 June 2026, so you must be born between 2 June 1999 and 1 June 2008. JJA needs a graduate degree and 40 words per minute computer typing. Process Server needs Class 10 with an LMV licence and two years of driving experience. Peon needs Class 10 pass.

What is the selection process?

It differs by post code. SPA, PA and JJA go through MCQ, a descriptive test, a qualifying skill test and an interview. Process Server has MCQ, a qualifying driving test and an interview. Peon has MCQ and an interview. The Delhi District Courts prepare the final merit list after the interview stage.

Does the Tier-I MCQ score count in the final merit list?

For SPA, PA and JJA, no. The MCQ only shortlists candidates, and final merit comes from the descriptive test and the interview. For Process Server and Peon, yes, because final merit combines the MCQ score with the 15-mark interview.
