Educational Qualification

Candidates can apply for this recruitment through 2 different educational qualification routes, so it is important to choose the correct one as per your qualification while filling the application form.
> For the Science Subjects category, candidates must have passed 10+2 (Intermediate) with Mathematics, Physics, and English, securing at least 50% aggregate marks and 50% marks in English. Candidates with a 3-year Engineering Diploma in the prescribed branches or a 2-year Vocational Course with Physics and Mathematics as non-vocational subjects are also eligible, provided they meet the same minimum marks requirement.

> For the Other than Science Subjects category, candidates must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination in any stream with at least 50% aggregate marks and 50% marks in English. Candidates who have completed a 2-year Vocational Course from a recognised board are also eligible if they satisfy the same marks criteria.

Candidates should pay special attention to the minimum marks requirement as the aggregate percentage will be considered exactly as shown in the marksheet, without any rounding off. For example, if a candidate has 49.99% marks, it will be treated as 49.99% and not as 50%, Therefore, candidates should carefully check their marks before applying to ensure they meet the required eligibility criteria.

Another important thing to note is that, those who are eligible under the Science Subjects category can also choose to appear for both the Science Subjects and Other than Science Subjects papers in Phase I. This option is available to eligible candidates from the 10+2 Science, Engineering Diploma, and Vocational routes that include Physics and Mathematics.

Selection Process

Selection runs across 3 phases, which are detaled below:

Phase I is a computer-based online examination conducted in Hindi and English, (except for the English section, which is available only in English). Exams duration depends on the category selected by the candidate. Science Subjects candidates get 60 minutes, Other than Science Subjects candidates get 45 minutes, while candidates appearing for both categories get a total of 85 minutes. Each correct answer is equal to 1 mark, and there is no penalty for unanswered questions, but 0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer. It is also important to note that since the examination is conducted in multiple shifts, therefore, scores will be normalised before preparing the merit list. Candidates must also secure the minimum qualifying marks in each subject, because qualifying on the overall score is not enough. The shortlist for the next stage is prepared state-wise, which means the qualifying cut-off depends on the candidate's domicile state and the number of candidates appearing from that state, rather than on a single all India cut-off.

Phase-II is Physical Fitness Test and two Adaptability Tests, which is of two parts. Physical Fitness Test - I details are mentioned below:

Now, Physical Fitness Test - II details are mentioned below:

Adaptability Tests details are shown below:

Phase-III is the detailed medical examination, covering blood work, urine tests, chest X-ray, ECG, and an ultrasound of the lower abdomen for female candidates. Candidates declared unfit can appeal to a Medical Board by depositing a β‚Ή40 fee within three working days.  Key points and all the details of Medical examination are as folows:

Note: The online examination is the first and most competitive stage of this selection process because a large number of candidates appear for it. However, merely clearing the written exam doesn't guarantee final selection, therefore, candidates should also prepare carefully for Phase II and Phase III, where all eligibility conditions and medical standards are checked in detail, and even small issues, such as an ineligible tattoo, not meeting the prescribed medical standards, or a medical history that does not meet the notification guidelines, can affect the selection process. Therefore, candidates should read all the eligibility and medical requirements carefully before applying.

This certificate can be useful for future career and employment opportunities.

The official notification does not mention any fixed posting location and selected Agniveervayu candidates can be posted anywhere in India or abroad, depending on the operational requirements of the Indian Air Force (IAF). After completing the 4 year service period up to 25% of each batch may be selected for enrolment into the regular Air Force cadre, which will be based on performance, suitability, and service requirements, and there is no guarantee of permanent enrolment for every Agniveervayu.

Required Documents and Important Instructions

Candidates should keep all required documents ready before starting the online application. The photograph must be 100 KB to 200 KB, the signature must be 80 KB to 150 KB, and the left thumb impression must be 50 KB to 100 KB. All files should be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format. It is important to note the photograph has a special requirement i.e., it must be taken within one month before the date of registration, and the candidate must be holding a black slate displaying their name and the date of the photograph written in white chalk.
During the application process, candidates must enter the last 4 digits of their Aadhaar number. However, this requirement is not applicable for candidates from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Assam, and Meghalaya. Candidates must also select their domicile category while registering, such as Permanent Domicile or the applicable COAFP category, because this cannot be changed after the application is submitted. The candidate's name and parent's name on the domicile or COAFP certificate must exactly match the details mentioned in the Matriculation (Class 10) certificate, as any mismatch may create issues during document verification or enrolment.

Candidates should carefully follow all these important instructions:

> Mobile phones, smartwatches, electronic gadgets, and other prohibited items are not allowed inside the examination venue during Phase I and Phase II, and if any candidate is found carrying any prohibited item or using unfair means, strict action may be taken as per the rules.
> Candidates should also submit only one application for this recruitment, because if multiple applications are submitted, only the application with the highest Application Sequence Number will be considered, and the application fee paid for the other forms won't be refunded.
> Candidates who have visible tattoos must upload the required close-up and full-view photographs of the tattoo, and failure to provide the required details or documents may affect the application process.

Before applying, take a look at the practical points below to understand this recruitment process more clearly:

The domicile choice is an important thing and cannot be ignored

While filling out the application form, choose your domicile category carefully, this is an important part of the application because the state-wise merit list is prepared based on the domicile selected by the candidate. Candidates should also make sure that the details mentioned in their domicile certificate are correct and match their Matriculation (Class 10) certificate. Any mismatch found during document verification may create problems in the later stages of the recruitment process. Therefore, it is better to verify all details before submitting the application.

Four years is the guarantee, a career is not

The Seva Nidhi payout and Skill Certificate exist precisely because continued service is not assured. Only up to a quarter of any batch gets offered regular cadre enrolment, purely at the organisation's discretion, and there is no appeal against being left out of that quarter. Candidates serious about a long defence career should treat the four-year term as a strong foundation and a financial cushion, not as a guaranteed stepping stone, and should use the permitted attempts at other commissioning exams during service as a genuine backup plan rather than an afterthought.
