Note: Maximum age limit of 24 years means this apprenticeship is mainly intended for young ITI-qualified candidates, but candidates who completed their ITI at a later age should carefully check whether they fall within the prescribed age limit after applying any eligible age relaxation. 

Educational Qualification

You need 10th class or Matriculation with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board, plus an ITI certificate or National Trade Certificate from NCVT or SCVT in a trade that matches one of the 21 designated trades below. If your 10th or ITI result was still awaited as on 07.07.2026, you are not eligible to apply for this recruitment.

Note: Candidates who hold an Engineering Degree or Engineering Diploma are not eligible to apply under this notification. This apprenticeship is meant only for candidates with the required ITI qualification in the notified trades.

Selection Process

There is no written examination and no interview in this recruitment, and selection is based entirely on a merit list prepared using the average of the marks obtained in Class 10 and the relevant ITI trade, with equal weightage given to both qualifications. 
> Candidates will be shortlisted up to 1.5 times the notified vacancies in each trade and division and will be called for document verification. If two candidates secure the same merit score, preference will first be given to the older candidate, but if the date of birth is also the same, then the candidate who passed the Class 10 examination earlier will be placed higher in the merit list.

> While calculating your Class 10 (Matriculation) percentage, RRC/NCR considers the total marks obtained in all subjects, including optional and additional subjects, and this is not the same as the "best of five" percentage some state boards print on the certificate itself. Also if any candidates whose marksheets show CGPA instead of marks they must convert their CGPA into marks or percentage as per the prescribed rules before filling out the application. It is important to note that all details entered in the application will be verified with the original documents, therefore, if the marks entered by the candidate don't match the official marksheet, then the candidature may be cancelled during document verification.

Selected candidates will undergo 1 year of apprenticeship training and will receive a monthly stipend during this period. The stipend will be paid according to the applicable State Government rules and the guidelines issued by the Railway Board.
