TSLPRB Recruitment 2026: Quick Intro
The Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB) conducts recruitment for various uniformed posts below the officer level in Telangana, including Police Constables, Firemen, SPF Constables, Warders, and other related positions. This recruitment brings together vacancies from four departments: Police, Special Protection Force, Fire Services, and Prisons. Combined, the notification offers 7,112 posts, making it one of the larger constable-level recruitment drives conducted by TSLPRB in recent years, though still smaller than the 16,925-post recruitment drive of 2018.
One notable feature of this recruitment is the extended age limit. TSLPRB recruitments have traditionally used a narrower 18 to 22-year age range for general candidates, but two government orders issued in May and August 2026 have provided a combined 7 years of additional age relaxation for eligible uniformed-post applicants.
TSLPRB recruitments can attract a large number of applicants compared with the available vacancies. For example, the Board's 2018 Sub-Inspector recruitment received around 1.9 lakh applications for 1,271 posts. In the current recruitment, there is no personal interview stage, so written examination performance and the other prescribed selection stages become especially important.
Vacancy Details
The 7,112 vacancies are distributed across seven post codes covering 4 departments. Post Code 21, Police Constable (Civil), accounts for more than half of the total vacancies. Complete department-wise and post-wise vacancy distribution is provided below:
Note: Post Codes 21, 22, 25, and 26 are open to both male and female candidates. Women's horizontal reservation is 33β % for Post Codes 21, 25, and 26, while Post Code 22 provides 10% reservation for women. Post Codes 23 and 27 are open only to male candidates, whereas Post Code 28 is exclusively for female candidates.
The vacancies under each post code are further divided into Direct Recruitment (DR) and Limited Recruitment/Backlog (LR) categories across different districts and commissionerates. The DR vacancies form the main open recruitment structure, while LR vacancies are backlog posts reserved for eligible local candidates of the respective district. The complete district-wise and post-wise vacancy details are provided from Page 2 onwards in the official notification PDF, available in the Important Links section below.
**Candidates should also note that the vacancy figures are tentative and may be revised by TSLPRB without further notice. The announced 7,112 vacancies should therefore be treated as provisional until the recruitment process reaches its final stages.
Application Fee
There is no official confirmation of the exact fee amount, TSLPRB states that candidates must pay the fee prescribed in the online application, with a concessional fee applicable to local SC/ST candidates of Telangana. Some unofficial sources have reported the fee as Rs.600 for eligible local SC/ST candidates and Rs.1,200 for other candidates. However, since these amounts are not confirmed by the recruitment board, candidates should verify the final fee displayed on the official TSLPRB application portal before making payment.
Note: Candidates applying for more than one TSLPRB post within three months of this notification may receive a rebate on the fee for each additional post. The reported rebate is Rs.50 for eligible local SC/ST candidates and Rs.100 for other candidates and since the PMT/PET is conducted only once, the same physical test results can be considered across the applicable posts and notifications, subject to the conditions specified by TSLPRB.
*Application fee, once paid, is non-refundable under any circumstances, including situations where a candidate is later found to be underage or overage. Payment is accepted only through the online modes enabled on the application portal, such as credit card, debit card, net banking, or other available payment options.
Age Limit
Candidates must have completed 18 years of age and, under the general age criterion, must not have crossed 22 years as on 1 July 2026. This year, eligible candidates can also benefit from additional age relaxation applicable to uniformed direct recruitment. The category-wise age limits and relaxations are detailed below.
Category | Additional Relaxation |
|---|---|
| General/OC uniformed posts | 5 years (GO Ms No. 87) + 2 years (GO Ms No. 122) = 7 years total |
| SC, ST, BC and EWS candidates | 5 years, on top of the 7-year uniformed relaxation |
| Ex-servicemen | 3 years plus length of Armed Forces service |
| NCC Instructors (minimum 6 months whole-time service) | 3 years plus length of NCC service |
| Telangana State Government employees | Length of regular service, capped at 5 years |
| Home Guards (360+ days of duty within 2 years) | Separate band of 18 to 40 years, plus the 7-year uniformed relaxation |
Note: Employees of TSTRANSCO, DISCOMs, TSGENCO, RTC, as well as those working in other State corporations, municipalities, local bodies, and PSUs, are specifically excluded from the applicable age relaxation.
In practical terms, a general category candidate can now apply up to 29 years of age, and an SC, ST, BC or EWS candidate up to roughly 34, which is considerably wider than the traditional 22-year upper limit associated with constable recruitment.
Widowed, divorced, or judicially separated women applying for Post Codes 21, 22, 25, 26, and 28 have separate age provisions. Their upper age limit can extend to 40 years for SC/ST candidates and 35 years for other eligible candidates, subject to the additional 7-year relaxation and other conditions.
**Age eligibility is determined strictly from the official educational records and candidates must rely on their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or an equivalent recognised certificate as proof of date of birth. Documents such as horoscopes, affidavits, or municipal birth extracts will not be accepted for this purpose.
Educational Qualification
The minimum educational qualification for all posts in this recruitment is a pass in Intermediate (10+2) or an equivalent examination recognised by the Telangana Government, completed on or before 29 July 2026, the date of notification. Candidates with a higher qualification, such as a graduation degree, are also eligible and are treated on par with candidates who meet the prescribed minimum qualification. Therefore, holding a higher qualification doesn't make a candidate overqualified for these posts.
Note: Post Code 26, Fire Fighter, has an additional eligibility requirement in which applicants must hold a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving licence as on the date of notification, i.e., 29 July 2026 and licence details will be verified during Certificate Verification, and candidates may be required to provide the relevant licensing authority's grant details. A valid LMV licence should therefore be in place before applying for this post.
Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of 3 stages and there is no personal interview at any stage of the selection process.
1. Preliminary Written Test (PWT)
It consists of 200 objective-type questions carrying 200 marks, with a total duration of 3 hours and minimum qualifying marks are 30% for OC/EWS, 25% for BC, and 20% for SC, ST, Ex-servicemen, and Home Guards. A 20% negative marking is applied for every incorrect answer. The complete PWT syllabus is provided below:
2. Physical Measurement Test and Physical Efficiency Test (PMT/PET)
Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Written Test (PWT) move on to the PMT/PET. The physical test includes a running event, followed by height measurement, long jump, and shot put, as applicable to the post and candidate category.
For the running event:> Men: 1,600 metres within 7 minutes 15 seconds
> Ex-servicemen (Men): 1,600 metres within 9 minutes 30 seconds
> Women: 800 metres within 5 minutes 20 seconds
The grading system for the running test and the detailed requirements for height, long jump, and shot put are provided below:
Height Requirement
The minimum height requirement is:> Men: 167.6 cm
> Women: 152.5 cm
*A relaxed standard applies to Scheduled Tribe candidates from the specified agency-area districts, with the minimum height reduced to:
> Men: 160 cm
> Women: 150 cm
Long jump and shot put event details:
Note: For Post Codes 21, 26, 27, and 28, the PMT/PET events mentioned above are qualifying in nature, meaning candidates only need to meet the prescribed standards to proceed but for Post Codes 22, 23, and 25, the running event carries marks (as shown in the grading system table above), and the performance contributes to the final merit calculation. Candidates applying for these posts should therefore treat the running event as a scoring stage, not merely a qualifying requirement.
3. Final Written Examination (FWE): is a 3-hour objective-type examination. The maximum marks vary by post code:
> Post Codes 21, 26, 27 and 28: 200 marks> Post Codes 22, 23 and 25: 100 marks
The minimum qualifying marks are 40% for OC/EWS, 35% for BC, and 30% for SC, ST, and Ex-servicemen candidates. The detailed FWE syllabus is provided below.
Note: The Final Written Examination (FWE) includes a section titled βPersonality Testβ, but this is not a separate interview or face-to-face assessment. It consists of objective-type MCQs covering areas such as ethics, gender sensitivity, and emotional intelligence. These questions are answered on the same OMR sheet as the other sections of the written examination.
*For Post Codes 21, 26, 27, and 28, the final merit list is prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in the Final Written Examination (FWE) and for Post Codes 22, 23, and 25, the final merit is calculated using the FWE score along with the normalized marks obtained in the PET running event. It is also important to note that 95% of vacancies in most post codes are reserved for eligible local candidates of the respective district. As a result, the level of competition and effective cutoff can vary significantly from one district to another.
Salary, Job Location and Service Conditions
All 7 posts under this recruitment carry the same pay scale of Rs.24,280 to Rs.72,850 per month. For Post Codes 21, 22, 23, and 25, selected candidates undergo institutional training and receive a stipend as prescribed by the government from time to time. Candidates are appointed to the regular post after successfully completing the required training. it is also important to note that candidates appointed on or after 1 September 2004 are covered under the Contributory Pension Scheme. The older Revised Pension Rules, 1980 do not apply to employees appointed from that date onward.
All postings under this recruitment are within Telangana State and are governed by the applicable local cadre system, rather than a free choice of posting location.
> Post Codes 21 and 22: Posting is based on the Police District or Commissionerate.
> Post Code 26: Posting is based on the Revenue District.
> Post Codes 27 and 28: Posting is based on one of seven Contiguous District Cadres, with each cadre covering approximately four to five districts.
95% of vacancies in these Post Codes are reserved for eligible local candidates of the respective district or Contiguous District Cadre (CDC). This means the district or CDC selected during the application can significantly influence the candidate pool and level of competition, in addition to determining the likely area of service. While Post Codes 23 and 25 are outside the local cadre system and are therefore treated as statewide posts, where eligible candidates compete on a broader basis.
