Rourkela Steel Plant is one of the major steel plants of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). Candidates applying for the Graduate and Technician Apprentice posts must have a Degree or Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline from a government-recognised university or institute. Eligible branches include Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, and other disciplines. It is also important to note that this apprenticeship recruitment is open to candidates from Engineering, Commerce, Arts, Computer Applications, and Paramedical backgrounds. Apart from engineering disciplines, eligible qualifications include BA, B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.Sc Nursing, and Diploma courses such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Radiological Technology, X-ray Technology, and Operation Theatre Technology etc.
 
All candidates must meet the few common eligibility conditions for both groups, these are as follows:

> And candidates who have already undergone, or are currently undergoing, apprenticeship training anywhere, or who carry one year of job experience of any kind, are also not eligible for this recruitment.


Selection Process

Selection will be based on merit, and no written examination will be conducted. The merit list will be prepared by giving 30% weightage to Class 10 marks and 70% weightage to the marks obtained in the relevant ITI, Diploma, or Degree qualification, as applicable.

Since there is no written examination, selection depends entirely on the candidate's academic performance. Candidates with CGPA should convert their marks into percentage using the formula prescribed by their respective board or university and produce the required proof during document verification. Candidates applying for disciplines with more vacancies such as,  Fitter or Electrical have greater opportunities for selection, while branches with fewer posts such as, EEE Diploma or Ceramic Technology may have higher competition. Salary, Job Location, and Service Conditions

Selected Trade Apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of β‚Ή10,560. However, candidates selected for the COPA and Welder trades will receive β‚Ή9,600 per month, or the stipend applicable under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) guidelines. Selected Technician (Diploma) Apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of β‚Ή10,900, while Graduate (Degree) Apprentices will receive β‚Ή12,300 per month. It is also important to note that the stipend for Graduate and Technician Apprentices will be shared equally by Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) and the Board of Practical Training (BOPT) through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.

The apprenticeship training will be conducted at Rourkela Steel Plant, Sector-5, for a one-year training period. Accommodation and travel allowance (TA) will not be provided, therefore, candidates from outside Rourkela should make their own arrangements for stay during the apprenticeship. It is also important to note that Selected candidates must submit a medical fitness certificate issued by a Government Doctor, and the certificate should include the doctor's medical registration number on the official seal.
