Rajasthan Vidyut Nigam Recruitment 2026: Quick Intro

RVUNL, RVPNL, JVVNL, AVVNL, and JdVVNL together manage Rajasthan's power sector, handling electricity generation, transmission, and distribution across the state. These five power companies conduct a Common Recruitment Exercise, under which a single application process and one written examination are used to recruit candidates for vacancies across all participating companies. This year's recruitment follows the same Common Recruitment Exercise, covering 3 different post categories under a common application process.

One of the most notable aspects of this recruitment is its scale. RVUNL's previous Junior Engineer recruitment in 2025 offered 271 vacancies across the Engineering and Chemistry disciplines but this year's Junior Engineer-I recruitment alone offers 869 vacancies, which is more than three times the vacancies notified in the previous recruitment drive. This increase reflects a significant expansion in technical hiring across Rajasthan's state power companies. On the clerical side, last major recruitment for Junior Accountant and Junior Assistant/Commercial Assistant-II posts was conducted in 2021, making this the first comparable recruitment drive in several years and also provides a valuable opportunity for Commerce graduates and 12th-pass candidates looking to secure a stable career in Rajasthan's state power utilities.

Vacancy Details

Junior Engineer-I: A total of 869 vacancies across the Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil disciplines. The complete discipline-wise, company-wise, and category-wise vacancy breakup is provided below:

Junior Engineer-I (Electrical): 727 Posts

Junior Engineer-I (Mechanical): 110 Posts

Junior Engineer-I (Civil): 32 Posts

**Candidates should note that Mechanical Junior Engineer-I vacancies are available only in RVUN, while Civil Junior Engineer-I vacancies are available only in RVPN. This distribution reflects the operational roles of the two companies, for example, RVUN is responsible for power generation, where Mechanical Engineers are primarily required, while RVPN manages the state's power transmission network, where Civil Engineers are needed for transmission lines, towers, foundations, and substation infrastructure. Therefore, candidates with a Mechanical or Civil Engineering degree should note that vacancies for their discipline are limited to a single company under this recruitment. As a result, they will compete only for the vacancies available in that company, rather than across all 5 participating power companies.

Among the Junior Engineer-I disciplines, Electrical Engineering has the highest number of vacancies, with JVVN alone notifying 189 posts, making it the largest recruitment segment in this cycle. The company-wise category-wise vacancy breakup, including TSP Area, SC, ST, BC, MBC, EWS, Women, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, and In-service Nigam Employees, is provided above and since the reservation matrix varies from one company to another, candidates should carefully check these vacancy details for their respective company and category before submitting their application.

Junior Accountant: A total of 371 vacancies have been notified. The complete company-wise and category-wise vacancy breakup is provided below:

Note: For the Junior Accountant post, JdVVN and JVVN together account for nearly 68% of the total vacancies. So, candidates who are flexible about their posting location within Rajasthan may consider giving higher preference to these two companies.

Junior Assistant/Commercial Assistant-II: total of 765 vacancies. The complete company-wise and category-wise vacancy breakup is provided below:

Note: This is the largest recruitment category and in which JVVN has notified 288 vacancies, the highest among all participating companies. Candidates belonging to the TSP Area or Saharia category should also note that AVVN has a substantial number of vacancies under these reservations, making it important to check the company-wise reservation details provided above before filling in preferences.

Application Fee

The application fee is the same for all three posts. The category-wise fee details are provided below:

Note: Payment is accepted only online, through debit cards, credit cards, internet banking, IMPS or mobile wallets, and bank transaction charges are borne by the candidate.

The application fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other recruitment. If the payment transaction fails and no e-Receipt is generated, candidates should log in again and repeat the payment, as an application will be considered complete only after successful fee payment and generation of the e-Receipt.

Age Limit

The minimum and maximum age limits for all three posts will be calculated as on 01 January 2027( cut-off date) and candidates must satisfy the prescribed age criteria on this date to be eligible for the recruitment. It is also important to note that while the common age cut-off date applies to all posts, the maximum age limit differs by post, this is because the participating power companies have followed different recruitment schedules, resulting in different upper age limits for different posts.

Post and Company

Women candidates from the General category receive 5 years, while SC, ST, BC, MBC, and EWS women are eligible for 10 years. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are entitled to an additional 5 years of age relaxation over and above the relaxation available under their respective category. Ex-servicemen applying for the Junior Engineer-I post are eligible for 15 years of age relaxation and for the Junior Accountant and Junior Assistant/Commercial Assistant-II posts, the relaxation is equal to the length of military service plus 3 years, subject to the condition that the resulting age does not exceed 50 years. Widows, divorced women, and in-service employees applying within their own Nigam are not subject to any upper age limit. Candidates should also note that age relaxations under different categories cannot be combined, except in the case of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates.

Educational Qualification

The post-wise educational qualification requirements are provided below (Candidates must possess the required qualification on the date of document verification):

Junior Engineer-I

Junior Accountant

Junior Assistant/Commercial Assistant-II

Note: Candidates applying for all 3 posts must have a working knowledge of Hindi written in the Devanagari script and knowledge of Rajasthani culture. This is a mandatory eligibility requirement under the Vidyut Nigam Service Regulations and should be noted carefully, especially by candidates from outside Rajasthan.
Candidates who are appearing in the final year or final semester of the required educational qualification of all the 3 posts mentioned above are also eligible to apply. However, they must have acquired the prescribed qualification by the time of document verification and produce the necessary proof. For this purpose, the date of declaration of the result or issuance of the mark sheet will be treated as the date of acquiring the qualification.

Selection Process

The post-wise selection process for all three posts is explained below.

Junior Engineer-I

For Junior Engineer-I, selection is based on a single Computer-Based Test (CBT) of 2 hours duration, consisting entirely of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). There is no interview at any stage of the recruitment process.
The examination is divided into 2 parts:
> Part A (60% weightage): Questions from the candidate's Engineering discipline at the degree level.
> Part B (40% weightage): Reasoning, Mathematics (Class XII level), General Knowledge with special reference to Rajasthan, General Hindi (Class X level), and General English (Class X level).
There is negative marking for incorrect answers in the written examination.
Note: Candidates should give equal importance to Part B of the examination. Although Part A carries the higher weightage, but 40% of the total marks come from Reasoning, Mathematics, General Knowledge, General Hindi, and General English. Therefore, a strong performance in these sections can make a significant difference to the overall score, so candidates should avoid focusing only on their technical subject.

Junior Accountant

For the Junior Accountant post also, selection is based on a single Computer-Based Test (CBT) of 2 hours duration, consisting entirely of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). There is no interview at any stage of the recruitment process.
The examination is divided into 2 parts:
> Part A (60% weightage): Corporate Accounting, Income Tax, Cost Accounting, Auditing (Theory & Practice), and other advanced accounting subjects at the graduation level.
> Part B (40% weightage): Reasoning, Mathematics, General Knowledge, General Hindi, and General English at the Class X level.
There is also negative marking for incorrect answers, although the exact penalty per wrong answer has not been specified.

Junior Assistant/Commercial Assistant-II

For the Junior Assistant/Commercial Assistant-II post, the selection process is conducted in 2 phases.
Phase I consists of:
> A Preliminary Examination, which is qualifying in nature and used only to shortlist candidates and approximately 10 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the next stage, and marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will not be counted in the final merit.
> A Main Examination comprising Reasoning, Mathematics, General Knowledge, General Hindi, and General English at the Class X level.
Phase II consists of a Typing Test in both Hindi and English and Each language includes a Speed Test and an Efficiency Test, carrying 25 marks each.

Candidates should note that the Main Examination carries 40% weightage in the final merit, while the Typing Test accounts for the remaining 60%. Around three times the category-wise vacancies will be shortlisted for the Typing Test, making it a crucial stage of the selection process. There is no negative marking in the Preliminary Examination, but negative marking applies in the Main Examination.
Note: For detailed Exam pattern and syllabus check Official Notification pdfs available in the Important Links section toward end of the page.

Salary, Job Location and Service Conditions

Candidates selected for all 3 posts will initially be appointed as Probationer Trainees for a period of 2 years and will receive a fixed monthly remuneration instead of the regular pay scale. During the probation period, Junior Engineer-I and Junior Accountant trainees will receive Rs.23,700 per month, while Junior Assistant/Commercial Assistant-II trainees will receive Rs.14,600 per month.

The place of posting will depend on the company allotted to the candidate based on their preferences, merit, and the recruitment rules. Selected candidates may be posted anywhere within the jurisdiction of the allotted power company. For example, RVUN operates power generation plants at locations including Kota, Suratgarh, Jhalawar, and Barmer, and candidates allotted to the company may be posted at any of its generating stations or associated offices, RVPN manages the power transmission network across Rajasthan, while JVVN, AVVN, and JdVVN are responsible for electricity distribution in their respective service areas, each covering a defined group of districts. Candidates should also note that if multiple applications are submitted for the same post, whether for the same company or different companies, only the latest valid application will be considered. Read the Important Points Below for a Better Understanding of the Recruitment Process:

Don't Underestimate the Typing Test

Candidates applying for the Junior Assistant/Commercial Assistant-II post should pay special attention to the Typing Test, as it carries 60% weightage in the final merit, while the Main Examination contributes 40%. A strong performance in the written examination alone may not be enough if typing speed and accuracy are weak. Candidates are therefore advised to begin regular typing practice alongside their written exam preparation from the start.

Why Civil and Mechanical Candidates May Have Better Chances This Year

Candidates applying for Civil and Mechanical Junior Engineer-I posts may have a more focused competition as, RVPN has notified vacancies only for Civil Engineers, while RVUN has notified vacancies only for Mechanical Engineers under this recruitment. As a result, these 142 Civil and Mechanical vacancies are expected to attract a more discipline-specific pool of applicants, whereas the 727 Electrical vacancies are spread across all five participating companies and are likely to see broader competition.
