Canara Bank Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Quick Intro
Canara Bank has announced 3,500 Graduate Apprentice training seats for the FY 2026-27 across all states and Union Territories. The online application window will remain open from 1 October to 17 October 2026. Candidates must have a 100% completed profile on the NATS apprenticeship portal to apply. There is no written examination for this recruitment. Selection will be based on merit calculated from the candidate's Class 12 or Diploma marks.
Canara Bank is a public sector bank headquartered in Bengaluru, with a network of more than 10,000 branches across the country. The bank conducts apprenticeship training for fresh graduates under the Apprentices Act, 1961. For the FY 2026-27, Canara Bank has announced 3,500 Graduate Apprentice seats. The bank has stated that this number is provisional and may be revised based on its requirements.
This recruitment is for a training programme, not a regular job. Apprentices will not be considered employees of Canara Bank during the training period. The bank is also not obligated to offer regular employment during or after the 12-month apprenticeship. Candidates should keep this condition in mind before applying.
Vacancy Details
The 3,500 Graduate Apprentice seats are distributed across 37 State and Union Territory entries. The complete state/UT-wise and category-wise vacancy distribution is given below:
Note: Candidates from reserved categories may also be considered for Unreserved (UR) seats if they meet the applicable general eligibility conditions. The EWS vacancy count is tentative and may be revised based on Central Government instructions or court decisions.
PwBD reservation is horizontal, meaning the reserved seats are included within each state's overall vacancy count and do not increase the total number of seats. On the other hand, Ex-servicemen are not eligible for apprenticeship engagement under this programme, and there is no separate reservation for Ex-servicemen.
Application Fee
Candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwBD categories are exempted from the application fee. All other candidates are required to pay βΉ500, which includes the applicable intimation charges.
The fee is non-refundable, so candidates should carefully verify all details in the application form before making the payment.
The application fee can be paid online only using a debit card, credit card, internet banking, IMPS, cash card or mobile wallet. If a payment fails, candidates should log in again using their provisional registration number and password and complete the payment through the application portal. After making the payment, candidates should not click Back or Refresh, as this may result in a duplicate charge.
Note: An application with an unsuccessful fee payment will be treated as invalid, so candidates should keep the e-receipt safely for future reference. No payment is required to any person or agency outside the Canara Bank application process and NATS portal for any stage of the recruitment.
Age Limit
The age limit for the apprenticeship is 20 to 28 years as on 01 September 2026. In terms of date of birth, candidates must have been born between 02 September 1998 and 01 September 2006, with both dates included.
The applicable upper-age relaxation for different categories is given below:
Note: The SC, ST and OBC age relaxation can be combined with only one additional applicable relaxation category. Candidates claiming any age relaxation must produce the original supporting certificate during Document Verification.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. The degree must have been obtained between 01 January 2023 and 01 September 2026. Candidates who completed their graduation outside this specified period will not meet the eligibility requirement.
Candidates must have their graduation result declared on or before 01 September 2026, therefore, final-year students whose results are pending after this date will not be eligible for the current apprenticeship cycle. During Document Verification, candidates must provide an official document from their Board or University confirming the date of result declaration.
Candidates are not eligible if they have previously completed an apprenticeship with Canara Bank or any other organisation, are currently undergoing an apprenticeship, or were terminated from an apprenticeship due to their own fault. Candidates are also ineligible if they have worked or undergone training for one year or more after completing their educational qualification.
Note: Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in Class 12 or Diploma, while the minimum requirement is 55% for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. This percentage requirement applies to Class 12 or Diploma and not to the graduation degree.
Selection Process
There is no written examination or interview for the Canara Bank Graduate Apprentice recruitment. Selection will be completed through the following stages:
1. NATS Registration and Online Application: Candidates must complete their registration on the NATS portal and submit the application through the Bank's designated portal.
2. State-wise Merit List: Merit will be prepared based on the Class 12 or Diploma percentage, with higher marks placed higher in the merit list. If two candidates have the same percentage, the older candidate will be ranked higher.
3. Document Verification and Local Language Test: Shortlisted candidates must complete document verification. A local language test will also be conducted for candidates who are required to take it.
4. Medical Fitness: Candidates must meet the prescribed medical fitness requirements of the Bank.
5. Apprenticeship Contract: Selected candidates must accept the digital apprenticeship contract on the NATS portal within the specified time.
The 60% requirement is only the minimum eligibility threshold and does not guarantee selection. Candidates must meet the prescribed minimum marks to be considered for the merit list. Since fractions are not considered, a score of 59.99% will be treated as below 60% and the final merit cut-off will depend on the number of applicants and available seats in each state and category.
*The merit list is the key stage of selection, as candidates are ranked based on their Class 12 or Diploma percentage within their respective state and category. The percentage entered in the application must exactly match the marks recorded in the supporting documents. Candidates whose marks are given as CGPA should use the prescribed conversion method and keep the official conversion certificate ready. Any mismatch between the details entered online and the documents produced during verification may result in disqualification.
The local language test is an important part of the verification process. Candidates whose Class 10 or 12 marksheet does not show that they studied the local language of the applied state will have to appear for a language test during verification. Candidates who fail the local language test will not be engaged as apprentices.
The previous recruitment cycle provides a general idea of the timeline. According to the Bank's list of selected candidates, provisionally selected candidates were notified on 20 November 2025 to attend document verification on 25 and 26 November 2025, while training started from 15 December 2025.
As the gap between selection and verification can be short, candidates should keep their original documents and self-attested copies ready in advance.
Note: A state-wise and category-wise wait list will remain valid for one year from the date of the result or until the next apprenticeship engagement, whichever is earlier. Candidates from the wait list may be considered only once against vacancies arising due to non-joining.
Salary, Job Location and Service Conditions
Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of βΉ16,650 during the 12-month training period. Of this amount, βΉ10,500 will be paid by Canara Bank, while βΉ6,150 will be credited directly to the apprentice's bank account by the Government of India through DBT. Any applicable loss-of-pay deduction will be made before the stipend is credited.
The βΉ16,650 monthly stipend is the total amount payable to apprentices, with no additional allowances. PF, ESI and bonus benefits are not applicable to apprentices under this training programme.
The posting process involves two choices. Candidates select one state and provide their preferred order of districts within that state. However, the Bank may assign them to any district in the selected state, depending on its requirements.
Working hours will follow the clerical cadre schedule of Canara Bank, and apprenticeship training will be conducted at selected branches. Overtime will not be permitted unless approved by the Apprenticeship Adviser. Apprentices are also entitled to 12 casual leaves per year, with one leave credited after each completed month. A maximum of four casual leaves can be taken at a time.
Apprentices are not permitted to join or form any union during the apprenticeship period. Canara Bank may terminate the apprenticeship contract by providing 7 days' notice in cases such as misconduct, disobedience or unsatisfactory performance.
The contract will also be terminated if a selected candidate fails to report on the scheduled training commencement date. After successfully completing the apprenticeship, candidates will receive a certificate through NATS.
How to Apply
- Candidates must first register on the NATS apprenticeship portal and complete their profile to 100%. After successful registration, note down the enrollment number generated on the portal, as it will be required for the application process.
- Before starting the application, candidates should keep four scanned documents ready: photograph, signature, left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration, in the sizes given further below.

- Fill in the form. Write your name exactly as in your Class 10 marksheet, choose one state, give your district preferences and enter your Class 12 or Diploma percentage.
- Upload each scanned document in its designated field in the application form. Candidates should ensure that the photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration are uploaded in their respective sections. βFrequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How many vacancies are there in Canara Bank Apprentice Recruitment 2026?
Canara Bank has announced 3,500 graduate apprentice training seats across all states and UTs, the same number as last year's batch. Karnataka has the most at 581, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 409 and Tamil Nadu at 391. The Bank says the figure is provisional and can change with its requirement.
What is the last date to apply?
The last date is 17 October 2026, and the window opened on 1 October 2026. Since your NATS profile must be 100% complete before you can apply, finish that first.
Who is eligible for the Canara Bank Graduate Apprentice posts?
An Indian citizen with any graduation degree, aged 20 to 28 years on 1 September 2026, who passed between 1 January 2023 and 1 September 2026 and scored at least 60% in Class 12 or Diploma (55% for SC, ST, PwBD). Earlier apprentices and people with one year of work experience cannot apply.
What is the age limit and relaxation?
The age limit is 20 to 28 years as on 1 September 2026. SC and ST candidates get 5 years, OBC non-creamy layer 3 years, and PwBD 10 years. Widows and divorced or separated women who have not remarried can go up to 35 years (General/EWS), 38 (OBC) or 40 (SC/ST).
What qualification is required?
A degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. The result must be declared between 1 January 2023 and 1 September 2026. Any stream works, which is why the applicant pool is so wide.
What is the selection process?
Selection follows a state-wise merit list made from Class 12 or Diploma percentage, then document verification, a local language test where needed, and a medical fitness check. There is no written exam and no interview.
What is the salary or stipend?
The stipend is Rs 16,650 per month for 12 months, with Rs 10,500 paid by the Bank and Rs 6,150 sent by the Government through DBT. Apprentices are not Bank employees. No other allowance is given, and PF, ESI and bonus do not apply, so this is not a regular salary.
What is the application fee?
SC, ST and PwBD candidates pay nothing. Everyone else pays a non-refundable Rs 500 including intimation charges, only online by card, net banking, IMPS, cash card or wallet, so pay after checking every field. A failed payment makes the application invalid, so keep the e-receipt.
How do I apply online?
Register on nats.education.gov.in and take your profile to 100%. Then open the Canara Bank website, go to Careers, then Recruitment, and click the Graduate Apprentice FY 2026-27 link. Enter your NATS enrollment ID, fill the form, upload the four scanned items, pay if applicable, and print the form.
What is the official website?
The Bank's website is www.canarabank.bank.in, and the application link sits under Careers and then Recruitment. NATS registration is done at nats.education.gov.in. The Bank says all updates will appear only on its own website, so be careful with look-alike pages and agents who ask for money.
Do my graduation marks count in the merit list?
No. The degree only proves eligibility. Ranking uses your Class 12 or Diploma percentage, and fractions are ignored, so 59.99% counts as below 60%. If your result is in CGPA, convert it to percentage and keep the board's conversion certificate ready for verification.
Can I apply for a state other than my home state?
The official notification of the bank asks for Indian citizenship and does not mention domicile in the chosen state. It does require the state's local language, so if your Class 10 or 12 record does not show it, you must pass a language test. Only one state can be chosen.
