Pay Matrix Level-1

Basic Pay: ₹18,000 – ₹56,900

In-hand salary for freshers : ₹25,000 to ₹32,000 per month (including DA, HRA and island allowances).

This is a good starting salary for 10th pass candidates in government sector. You also get government quarters, medical facilities, pension and job security.

◾️ Who Should NOT Apply and Why

Look, this recruitment sounds exciting because it is a government job in the scenic Andaman islands, but it is NOT for EVERYONE.

The entire selection depends on your physical fitness, and the daily work is tough outdoor labour in forests and saw mills. If you are someone who gets tired after a short run or dislikes working in sun and rain, you will struggle a lot. Many students apply without thinking about the nature of the job and later regret it when they have to carry heavy weights or run long distances.

• Do not apply if you cannot run 10 km (male) or 8 km (female) comfortably

• Avoid if you have any medical issue that stops you from lifting weights

• Skip if you want only office work and hate field duties

• Not suitable if you cannot stay and work in remote forest areas of Andaman

• Think twice if you are not ready for swimming/diving (for Raftman post)

◾️ Is This Job Good For Freshers

Yessss, this is actually one of the best opportunities for freshers who have just passed 10th or 12th. You don’t need any previous work experience at all. The department is looking for young, energetic candidates who are physically fit and ready to learn on the job. Freshers from rural backgrounds or local islands often get selected because they are already used to hard physical work. The training period of 2 years (probation) helps you settle down and learn everything step by step.

Many students worry that government jobs require higher education, but here 10th pass is enough. If you are a fresher with good stamina, go for it without any second thought.

• Perfect for 10th pass freshers and no experience needed

• Local Andaman candidates get extra advantage in reservation

• Good way to start your career in government sector

• Regular salary and benefits from day one

◾️ Is The Salary Worth It

Let me be straight with you. For a 10th pass government job, the starting salary of around ₹25,000 to ₹32,000 per month (after all allowances) is quite decent. You also get free or low-cost government quarters, medical facilities, and island special allowances which many mainland jobs don’t offer.

• Starting in-hand ₹25,000–₹32,000 + quarters + medical

• Much better than private sector labour jobs

• Pension and job security after retirement

• Extra island allowances make it attractive

• Worth it if you love outdoor government work

◾️ Promotion and Career Growth

Once you join as Mazdoor or technical worker in Level-1, you don’t stay at the bottom forever. The department follows government promotion rules, so after a few years of good performance you can move up. The growth is slow but steady and secure. After 30-35 years, most people retire at Level 4 or 5 with good pension benefits.

If you work hard and clear any internal exams, you can reach better posts with higher pay.

• Start at Pay Level-1 as Mazdoor/Technical Worker

• Promotion to Higher Grade after few years of service

• Chance to become supervisor or forest staff through tests

• Steady growth with government pay scales

• Retirement with pension after 30-35 years

◾️ Comparison With Similar Jobs

This Andaman forest recruitment is quite different from big SSC or Railway exams. In SSC GD or Railway Group D you have written exams plus physical test, but here there is only physical test and no written paper. Salary is similar to Group D jobs but with extra island allowances. Compared to state labour department jobs, this one offers better security and pension. It is easier for local candidates because of ST and island domicile reservation.

If you hate long written exams, this is better than SSC or UPSC type jobs.

• No written exam unlike SSC GD or Railway Group D

• Island posting with extra allowances

• Better security than private timber companies

• Less competition than mainland big recruitments

• Good for candidates who prefer physical over theory

◾️ Common Application Mistakes

Students make small mistakes that lead to rejection even after qualifying physical test. The most common one is uploading a photo that is either too big or not in the exact size mentioned. Another big mistake is writing name or father’s name differently from the 10th certificate. Many forget to choose their preferred division or miss the fee payment. Some apply but don’t check the website for correction window and lose the chance to fix errors.

Always double-check every detail before final submit.

• Wrong photo size or format is the top mistake

• Name/father name mismatch with 10th marksheet

• Forgetting to select preferred division

• Missing fee payment (if not exempted)

• Not using correction window properly

• Applying without reading full notification

◾️ Real Preparation Advice

Don’t wait for the physical test date to start training. Begin right now. Run every morning and slowly increase your distance till you can easily finish 10 km. Practice long jump in any ground near you. For weight carrying, use a 30 kg sack and walk 500 meters daily. Eat good food, sleep well, and stay hydrated. If you are applying for Raftman, go to the sea or pool and practice swimming. Join a local running group or gym for motivation.

Consistency is the real key – train daily for at least 2-3 months.

• Start running practice today – build up to 10 km

• Practice long jump and weight carrying every day

• Swim regularly if targeting Raftman post

• Eat healthy and take proper rest

• Solve previous physical test patterns if available

• Stay motivated and track your progress weekly
